Finding a replacement Visual FoxPro programmer who is both available and affordable is very difficult. You can Google such terms as “Visual FoxPro programmer needed” or “FoxPro programmer wanted” and you will find a number of companies that claim they have qualified experts available. We just Googled these terms and found not a single qualified person or company.
When–not if–your system crashes, you need help and you need it fast. Here are just a few of the many things that can bring your system to a grinding halt:
- File size too big. There is a 2 GB file size limit in FoxPro. Many companies, after running for many years, reach this limit and the system halts.
- Not a database file.
- A field becomes too small, e.g., Invoice Number is currently 9989 and the field allows up to 9999.
- Corrupted index file. You need to erase the CDX and recreate it but this can only be done from within your program which will not load because of the corrupted index file.
- Numeric overflow
These are just a few of the things that can bring your system down.
